The longer that I live on this earth, the more that I learn.  The more that I learn, the more I know that there is to learn.  The more that I see that there is to learn, the more that I realize how little time I have to learn what God wants me to learn and apply.  One of the truths that has greatly impacted me, lately, is the long-term impact of families upon their members.  The long-term impact of families upon family members can be good or bad, but the negative impact is particularly devastating.  This is poignantly pointed out in the Bible.  As a matter of fact, the Scripture that I am thinking about is repeated four times in God’s Word...

(Let me summarize this message with five truths that I want you to get and take with you.)

bullet

Family Mess is the tip-off that there is something seriously wrong with your family.

bullet

Family Mess is the tip-off that there is something impacting your family beyond natural circumstances.  Generational bondage.

bullet

Family Mess is the tip-off that you need someone or something greater than you.  You need Jesus Christ.

bullet

Family Mess can alert us to areas of struggle or sin that we should be aware of.

bullet

Family Mess can alert us to areas of struggle or sin where God wants to work.

Let me state this in terms that are easier for us to understand.  “Family sin leads to family mess.”  Now some very dear folks have never been in a growing church, that teaches the Bible, and they really don’t understand why we use the language of the people.  So, let me explain.  If you want to reach a certain group of people, it is a biblical, missionary principle to speak in their language when the translation into their language is not in poor taste, offensive, or sinful.
